The Tick in the Digital Sea

As the story goes, XANA was once dead, before he was able to escape and begin his rampage. But the humans were not cautious enough. Sometime in the summer of 2011, no one is sure exactly when, XANA came back to life.

As you may already know, XANA was an AI entity that was created roughly 20 years after the formation of the United Nations. Once an ally of the late Waldo Shaeffer, or "Franz Hopper" after changing his name, XANA eventually became corrupt and went insane. Throughout several extensive battles, XANA was finally captured inside "The Supercomputer". Unfortunately, Franz had to hide himself and his daughter inside the supercomputer and then shut it down from the inside. Nearly 20 years went by, but in the early 2000s the supercomputer was turned back on and the daughter was saved. But XANA took this opportunity to also escape using the daughter's genetic key (which was passed onto her by her father) to free himself. In the act of creating a special frequency to kill XANA and everything related to him, what was left of Franz Hopper perished. But at the very least, those who had spent their time fighting XANA could now celebrate his death.

Or so they thought.

I'll be telling you the story of his creation, but first, his rebirth.

Now none of us even knew that XANA existed, because the war against him had been kept extremely private. But what we've been able to gather about his return after the Anti-XANA signal was sent was this:
Frantically searching for some way to survive, XANA thought as quickly as possible, if this signal was searching and killing him and everything created by him, then there would be only one way to save himself, and that would be to create a perfect prison for himself. There wasn't much time left, and he was almost dead. So before time was out, what was left of him grabbed energy from surrounding hubs and internet bases. In the summer of 2008, a new search-engine that was started in Ohio, America was abruptly shut down, as well as blowing several internet communication cables shutting down internet for users in India and the Middle east. Nowadays, people believe that these incidents were caused when XANA was building his chamber. This being noted, his "prison" was made of energy and materials that weren't related to him, capable of isolating him from the anti-XANA signal.

This chamber that XANA built to seal him off from his death sentence was sentient. It took the form of a monster about nine feet in length. This creature was capable of absorbing energy and storing it in its own body. Unfortunately it would have to have free will, XANA did not have enough strength to control it himself, he was lucky that he had any life force left at all. This new creature was named "The Tick" many years later due to its ability to absorb energy. An intelligent being, the Tick only takes orders, but doesn't know anything other than its orders.

The Tick helped create a nonmoving black hub, where XANA would rest for the next few years. The Tick traveled the "Virtual Sea", or what most people this day and age know as "The Internet" or "World Network" for the next several years, gathering energy and restoring XANA enough to wake up. After 3 years, in the historic year of 2011, XANA would finally be reborn. In the depths of an ocean of data with towers of burning electricity, in a black hub that glows at the bottom of the Virtual Sea. The deadliest eye finally reopened.
