Description
I'm not especially proud of how this one turned out, I was in a bit of a hurry, I might change this eventually. I think what really gets me is the close up of the laser tail, I just had to maximize the one on the original drawing.
This monster was the first that X.A.N.A. created for any aerial combat. These creatures are not the strongest, but certainly very dangerous. The Hornet has 12 strong wings that beat over 100 times per second. This quite easily keeps them airborne, they can also change the direction that their wings are pointing to either speed up, or slow down. They can change direction fairly quick, and travel at speeds up to 30-40 mph. Their fast laser is not strong enough to do any real damage, short term paralysis has been the extent of the reported attacks, though, the lasers are painful and can shoot repeatedly. Where as other monsters need to absorb and unstable molecules in the air to fire a laser (usually taking up to 3-4 seconds), the hornet was the first created with a laser that can fire up to 5 times a second, though due to this ability the lasers are much weaker than the other monsters.
The real danger of these creatures is their speed, and acid. The Hornet can spray a corrosive acid from its extended beak in front. The acid is a bright greenish color and can seep deep into the skin if exposed to it for too long.
Hornets usually travel in groups of 5-7, their speed makes them very difficult to defend against. It is advised to be prepared with heavy clothing or some sort of cloth to put over your body in the event of an attack. As for an offence, most projectiles or rifles suit just fine. Because its wings are rather delicate, any blow to the creature will cause it to lose balance and fall, this would be an excellent time to strike. Like all monsters, the eye is the weakest point of it, so it is preferable to strike there, but the outer layer is about as strong as human skin, or a little harder. Striking it with anything strong enough to *squish* this nasty but will definitely kill it. Be careful to let only trained Eye Exterminators clean up the body as the insides of the Hornet may still contain acid.
